Thrifty Foods Skatepark

West Shore Parks & Recreation

After two design phases and years of community engagement, concept development, and fundraising, a final design developed that flowed with the existing topography resulting in one of Canada’s best modern skateparks.

This park features three distinct zones including an advanced pool with custom tile, a terraced street plaza with granite ledges, and the most progressive organic flow bowl in the region. The park fits the site closely to minimize disturbance, optimize earthwork costs, and utilize existing shade while preserving the native trees' critical root zones. Construction details and improvements resulted from close collaboration with the construction crew including on-site design reviews.
