Taking flight with design inspiration from a local history of aircraft manufacturing, the new Ypislanti skatepark features a rain garden for on-site stormwater infiltration with native planting.

With a small budget and limited drainage options, our team was able to design a well-rounded skatepark with something for everyone, including a small multi-depth bowl and two 'wings' in the form of street lanes; one more technical and beginner friendly, one more high-speed and advanced.  Accessible pathways sweep around the rain garden to provide barrier free access to each end of the park.
